Earlier this evening I received a Facebook message from a concerned young woman seeking help for a family member. She shared the following with me:
"I have a family member that needs help. I think he would do well to have a psychiatrist and therapist or counselor.....
Do you know of any black therapists, psychiatrists, or non religious counselors in the Madison area?....
...I'm not sure who else to ask. I often feel like I don't have a lot of resources when it comes to black men and mental health." (abbreviated message)
I'm sure other's in the area have had similar concerns and may have found it difficult to identify where to go. So as I normally do -- I reached out to my really great and knowledgable Facebook network! Below you'll find the contacts shared with me today. Please note that these are not referrals but simply information to help you or others in searching for a mental health professional.
If you have more suggestions, please feel free to leave a comment.
As always.... please pass this info along, you really might help someone by doing so!
